clarenceClarence J. Samuel

I am working in the Department of Community Medicine, Christian Medical College Ludhiana as an Epidemiologist cum Assistant Professor since 2008.  I am from the Class of 1997 Christian Medical College Ludhiana.  I have experience at the grass roots through my work in Mission hospitals at Jalandhar (Punjab), Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), Aizwal (Mizoram) and as the Project Director for the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) India’s Polio Eradication Initiative in Western Uttar Pradesh.  I joined residency at Christian Medical College Vellore in 2005, specialising in Community Medicine.  The advances in Medical education and medical technologies are of great interest to me apart from Epidemiology and Health Promotion.  I am actively involved in facilitating learning of medical students and graduates in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Bioethics, Health Economics and Community Medicine in my institution.  I am interested in using E-learning and the other innovations to make medical students and graduates better equipped to face personal and professional challenges.

I did my graduation and post-graduation from the prestigious King George`s Medical College, Lucknow . I am presently working as Associate Professor, Pathology at HIHT University, Jolly Grant, Dehradun, Uttarakhand. I am wife of Dr Amit Maitreya (Paediatric Ophthalmologist) and mother to two sons-Vyom and Arnav. My academic and research interests are Transfusion Medicine and Medical Education and I have over a dozen publications to her credit in peer reviewed journals. After post-graduation, I completed distance courses in clinical trials, genomics, proteomics and statistics and intends to be a lifelong learner. I am an active member of various professional and social organizations like ISBTI,ISTM and ISHBT. Within the institute I am a member of Antiragging, cultural and literary committees. Teaching students in interactive and innovative ways and mentoring them to suit their academic needs has always been my priority. I received the best teacher award from the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand on 13th November, 2013. I have been resource person in several Medical Education workshops conducted by Department of Medical Education, HIHT.

I am working as a Professor in the Department of Surgery, Rural Medical College, Loni based in rural setup. I did my under graduation from renowned BJ Medical College, Pune. I finished my Masters in General Surgery in 2005 from GMC, Miraj.  I have started my career as an assistant professor in 2005 in the RMC, Loni. I am involved in day today undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. To become a complete and able teacher, I have done basic and advanced course in medical education held by MUHS, Nashik. To nurture my dream further, I am interested in doing FAIMER Fellowship.  I have attended local and national conferences with active participation and paper presentation. Till date, I have published 20 papers. One original study which got published in International Journal of Advanced Biomedical Research [IJBAR] was based on modification of lecture as a large group T-L method by inclusion of test during it. I am also functioning as a nominated member of Board of Studies, Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences [PIMS] since 2012. I am also dedicating myself to social services by taking part in various multi diagnostic camps for rural masses and Namaskar Doctor Program of institution. I want to see myself as a complete and able medical teacher who has all skills and attitude to hold responsibility of teaching budding competent and complete clinicians.

I am a Professor at the Dept. of General Medicine, S.B.K.S. Medical Institute & Research Centre, Waghodia, Vadodara, Gujarat. I did my MBBS (1995) and MD (1999) from Govt. Medical College Surat, Gujarat. My area of interest in Medical Field is Diabetes, Lifestyle Disorder Management and Endocrinal disorders. I am running the diabetes clinic at our Hospital since last 5 years. I am involved in teaching of postgraduate & MBBS students as well as Dental and Physiotherapy students of our University (Sumandeep Vidyapeeth University). I am core/ executive member of Medical Education Unit of our college since last 6 years. Presently, I am working also as a co-coordinator of MEU. I have worked as a faculty and resource person for many MET workshops conducted at our University. I am an active member of many sub-committees, working for betterment of Undergraduate & post graduate teaching. I am also the member of Academic Council of University. My areas of interest in Medical Education field are Student Assessment Methodology and its impact on teaching, Learning process, integrated teaching as well as cultivation of teaching abilities in Post graduate students.

I am currently working as assistant professor in the department of optometry, School of Allied Health Sciences, Manipal University. I am a primary eye care professional; did my undergraduation and postgraduation from Elite School of Optometry affiliated to Sankara Nethralaya eye institute and BITS Pilani.  I have worked as consultant optometrist in various tertiary eye care hospitals and also as teaching faculty for undergraduate and post graduate optometry students along with guidance for research projects. I have 4 research publications in indexed and peer reviewed journals. I have undergone training in research ethics, qualitative and quantitative research methods. I have participated in various workshops related to teaching and learning conducted by the Educational unit of Manipal University. Since the profession optometry is in its infant stage I would like to inculcate the standard curriculum design, teaching, learning and evaluation methods through this training with the aim of making uniform and standard optometry curriculum.

 Manjinder Kaur

I am presently working as Professor in the Department of Physiology in Geetanjali Medical College and Hospital, Udaipur. I have done my manjiMBBS from Govt. medical College, Patiala (1998) and MD (Physiology) from Dayanand Medical College, Ludhiana (2005). After my MD I joined Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in 2005 as Assistant Professor and later joined my present institution in 2008. I am the life member of Indian Medical Association and APPI. I have 6 publications to my credit. In medical education technology, I have attended the basic course workshop along with the orientation programme for coordinators from the regional center at Smt. NHL municipal medical college, Ahmadabad. In my institution, I am holding the additional posts of Academic Officer and Chief Warden of the girl’s hostel. Apart from these, I am in-charge of the college cultural committee, co-coordinator of medical education unit; member of disciplinary committee, anti-ragging committee and gender harassment cell.

 mohitMohit Kumar Joshi

I am, a graduate from GSVM Medical College, Kanpur (UP). I completed MBBS in year 2000.  I did post-graduation in General Surgery from MLB Medical College Jhansi in year 2004. In the same year I joined as a Senior Resident in the department of Surgery in University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) & GTB Hospital, New Delhi. During my senior residency I did DNB in General Surgery in year 2006.  In 2007, I joined as Assistant Professor in UCMS and since then I am serving in the same Institute.  I have keen interest in Medical Education and thoroughly enjoy my teaching assignments. Our Institute started Medical Education Unit in 2009 and I am the member of the unit since beginning. I also have special interest in trauma management. I am a certified trauma instructor and director for ‘Advanced Trauma Life Support’ course of American College of Surgeons. I have 37 publications in various regional, national and international journals and books. In addition I also review papers for various journals. My hobbies include reading and listening to music.

I am working as an Associate Professor in the College of Physiotherapy, Christian Medical College & Hospital,  Ludhiana since 2012. I did my Bachelor of Physiotherapy from K.B.YS College of Physiotherapy in the year of 1998 under Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai and pursued Master of Physiotherapy (Sports Medicine) from College of Applied Education and Health Sciences, Meerut in the year of 2007 under Ch. Charan Singh University, Meerut, UP. After my Post graduation, I have worked as an Assistant Professor from the year of 2007 to 2012 in College of Physiotherapy, CMC&H. Ludhiana. I have four publications in national and international journals and four presentations in national conference. I am a member of research committee in our institution and also I was a guide of various research works for undergraduate and post graduate level.


 I did my MBBS and MD in Community Medicine from reputed Maulana Azad Medical College, and Lady Harding Medical College of Delhi University respectively. Thereafter I passed my DNB in Social & Preventive Medicine. I was also selected as mentee of reputed World Health Organization – Violence Injury Prevention Program for year 2010-11. , I have worked as Senior Resident in Maulana Azad Medical College and as Assistant Director in apex Public health institute National Center for Disease Control where I honed  my professional skills through my involvement in multiple public health capacity building teaching and training program , outbreak investigations, Field Epidemiology training program and as public health expert in evaluating National Polio Surveillance – Acute Flaccid Paralysis Surveillance Program, Neonatal Tetanus elimination survey, etc.  I am currently working as Assistant Professor in Department of Community & Family Medicine at AIIMS Jodhpur.  Being a newly established institute aiming to achieve status of Center of Excellence and with no predecessors ,  the current faculty cohort have endless possibilities to contribute to teaching and training of medical students  utilizing best evidences  from  medical education technologies. Besides Medical Education, my other fields of interest are Epidemiology, and community based research in Non-Communicable diseases.

 nilimaNilima D Shah

I work as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Government Medical College, Surat since 2010. I was born and brought up in Ahmedabad. My father, a civil engineer, used to work with the Municipal Corporation and my mother worked as a Gujarati and Maths teacher in Eklavya school. I completed my medical education from medical college Baroda in 2009 and was awarded a gold medal for excellence in Psychiatry. A psychiatrist and a teacher by choice, I love my profession. I am particularly interested in Neuropsychiatry and Consultation Liaison Psychiatry. In addition to routine clinical and academic duties, I render services as a visiting psychiatrist at Dang-Ahwa, a tribal region of Gujarat. I am also involved in educating the peripheral health workers of Dang in mental illnesses. Teaching, to me, is a unique experience of feeling enriched while imparting. I enjoy spending a lot of formal and informal time with my students. I take a course on psychology for the students of Physiotherapy. A resource person for the Medical Education Unit of our Institute, I take sessions on Adult learning principles in faculty development workshops. I have two younger sisters, one is a lifestyle accessories designer and the other one is a Montessori educator. I have found my life-partner in my school friend, who is a mechanical engineer and works with Maruti Suzuki India ltd. Apart from work, I am interested in classical dance and music. At present I am learning to play the Flute.

 peterPeter Prasanth Kumar

M.D, D.C.H, D.N.B, Associate Professor, Department of Pediatrics, Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences, Puducherry-14. I graduated from Christian Medical College, Vellore. After graduation I finished my diploma in child health from St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore. I worked in the paediatric hemato-oncology unit, CMC Vellore as a tutor for one year before joining the MD course at CMC, Vellore. I finished my degree in 2006 and was awarded the Capt. Jaising Jadhav & Charlotte Manoharan medals (2006) for the best outgoing postgraduate. During my post graduation I was specially trained in paediatric nephrology, oncology and metabolic diseases. I worked at CMC, Vellore for four years as assistant professor. I have been working as an associate professor in Pondicherry institute of medical sciences since then. I had a keen interest in medical education and teaching since my undergraduate days. I have completed the basic course workshop conducted by MCI and am presently helping the medical education unit as a resource person. This year I have been appointed as the Secretary – Faculty development. I am married to Dr. Hannah Ranjee, an Ophthalmologist and have two children- Sucharita Grace (6 years) and Rebecca Madhuri (3 years).

I am working as Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at People’s College of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Bhopal. I am working as Medical Teacher since 8 yrs  which is not just profession but a passion for me. My College is  an Undergraduate as well as a Post Graduate Teaching Institute and I have ample opportunity to contribute “in making of New Doctors” who will serve the future society. Of Late I thought of enhancing my Teaching -Learning Skills. I also have keen interest in Medical Research Field for which I have taken trainings at various places including CMC Vellore and St John’s Medical College and Research Institute, Bangalore. I am also a Member of Research Advisory Committee of my Institute and very recently become the Member of Board of Studies. So there exist plenty of opportunities for my performance. I hope further learning will help me in improving my skills so that I can perform my duties at various places to my best and the whole processes of learning by interaction will be a pleasurable one.

 sabitaSabita Mohapatra

She has passed her MBBS from S.C.B. Medical College, Cuttack, Odisha, India, in 1989. She is presently working as Professor and H.O.D. Pharmacology, V.S.S. Medical College, Burla, Sambalpur, Odisha, since July 2013, and  has been recently appointed as the Co-ordinator of the Medical Education Unit, and the Co-ordinator of the ADR Monitoring Cell (Pharmacovigilance Programme of India)  of the same Institution. She was trained in the Basic Course Workshop on Medical Education Technologies from C.M.C. Ludhiana. Since then she is a Resource Person in the MCI Regional Training Centre on Medical Education Technologies at S.C.B. Medical College,  Cuttack and has trained several senior and junior medical faculties hailing from six eastern Indian states in the quarterly workshops (10 so far) conducted by the Centre on  “MCI  Basic Course Workshops on MET” and  in “Orientation Courses for MEU Co-ordinators on MET”. She is going to organize one MCI Approved “Institutional Basic Course Workshop on MET” at V.S.S. Medical College, Burla during January 2014. She has published several research articles and has authored chapters in books. She is trained in Clinical Pharmacology, Bio-statistics, Pharmacogenomics, Pharmacovigilance and Pharmacoecomics. Her key passion is teaching and her PG and UG students of all the Medical Colleges where she has taught appreciate her style, interest and depth of teaching.

 simerSimerjit Singh

 He has done his MBBS from BJMC, Pune in 2002 and MS(Ortho) from RMC, Loni (Maharashtra, India) in 2007. After post graduation he joined as Assistant Professor in department of Orthopaedics at RMC, Loni and was involved in undergraduate and post-graduate teaching. He is presently working as Assistant Professor in the department of Orthopaedics, Melaka Manipal Medical College, Melaka. He is actively involved in orthopaedic curriculum development, teaching and assessment of undergraduate students. He has special interest in arthroscopy and use of simulation in medical education. He has several publications in international peer-reviewed journals and is a reviewer of 4 international journals. He is member of various professional bodies like Indian Orthopaedic Association, Indo German Orthopaedic Foundation, Indian Medical Association and Malaysian Medical Association. Besides academics he has keen interest in sports such as cricket, badminton and hockey.

She has done her B.D.S. in 2001 and M.D.S. in 2006 from Sharad Pawar Dental College and Hospital, Wardha, Nagpur (Maharashtra, India). She is presently working as Associate Professor in the department of Oral Medicine Radiology, VSPM’s Dental College and Research Centre, Nagpur. Specially trained in education technology and research methodology. She has presented posters and papers in MET workshops at state level. Carried out special institutional survey based on “Current Education System-Teacher and students’ opinion.” She has developed educational software for easy diagnosis and treatment planning for BDS final year students. She has been elected as one of the mentors for undergraduates in her institution. Teaching is commitment and passion for her, which has been reflected as best teacher in student’s feedback. Interviewed as an expert on “Vitagram” at www.vitaserch.com on her nutrition based research. She has prestigious International fellowship of Billcare Academy of Clinical Dental Research, USA. Selected as a member of the “Key Resource Team” for HIV/AIDS workshops at university of Alabama School of Dentistry, Birmingham USA. She has been awarded best paper presentation at national conferences and has 12 National and International publications. She has organized and participated at various CDEs and workshops at state and national level.

 vijayVijay Pratap Singh

He is presently working as Associate Professor of Physiotherapy at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences, Gangtok. He completed his Bachelor degree and Post-graduation in Cardio-Pulmonary Physiotherapy from prestigious Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore. He was one of the best outgoing student from Manipal University for which he was awarded Jeena Medal sponsored by Jeena Inc. U.S.A and Shobha Alva Memorial Gold Medal from Alva Foundation. He previously served as Lecturer in Manipal College of Allied Health Science, Manipal and Srinivas College of Physiotherapy and Research Center, Mangalore. He has published several research papers. He is also Fundamental Critical Care support provider under seal of Society of Critical Care Medicine, California. He has been called as resource person for several workshops/seminars on Cardio Pulmonary Physiotherapy and Research Methodology. He is invited guest lecturer to Colleges of Physiotherapy in Kerala and other states. He teaches Research Methodology to post graduate students of physiotherapy (MPT) and Hospital administration(MHA). He is pursuing his Ph.D. from Sikkim Manipal University. He has also received a research grant from Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for his research in Yoga and Diabetes. His area of special interest is Holistic health and health as Mind-Body relationship. He was one among few English poets selected from all over world and honoured as International Poet of Merit in 2000-2001.
